I agree. I always thought Jenson was pretty good but nothing special. But last year plus the first races of this year have been very impressive. Particularly showing Lewis the way - the first time that Lewis has had a team-mate who has shown the upper hand (unexpectedly to Lewis I would guess) and it will be interesting to see how he comes back (which I'm sure he will). I am a huge Jenson & lewis fan.
I think that the rules this year will only play into Jensons hands more and more.
His reputation has always been a smooth consistant driver.
I think that all things being equal Lewis is slightly quicker on a single flying lap.
This year jenson will get stronger and stronger i think.

the last 5 laps today were a microcosm in which their contrasting styles were demonstrated - as soon as Button's tyres went off, Hamilton was catching him (with also gone off tyres - they pitted at the same time remember) at almost a second a lap. McLaren have a very strong driver line up, but I think Jenson's strength is in reaching maximum performance under realtively ideal conditions and Lewis' strength is in improvising and being quick whatever the condition of the car/track/tyres (e.g. look at the second safety car restart today).

Not forgetting the British engines, because Mercedes HPE is ex-Ilmor! I guess Button didn't want a last-lap mishap that could stuff him up so he took the safe option and managed his way to the end. Jenson doesn't seem to have it quite the same way Lewis does. BUT, as I said before, it's not where you start it is where you finish. No good doing a Webber and just hurling your car into the one in front (rare for Webber, but still), you have to make it stick. Me too. Four races in and JB has won two to LH's none, and JB nearly won today by a country mile. The guy definitely has something that i never thought he had.And the thing is, think about how LH is doing against JB compared to how he did against Alonso. That's the crux for me.
I would never have ranked JB with FA, but fact is, in all ways of looking at it including how he has gelled with the team, JB is making FA look dead ordinary in comparison.
Their reactions at the end of the race said it all and shown just what a strong driving TEAM mclaren have.
Both ultra competitive drivers, both with different strengths and seemingly both having the greatest respect for each other.
As Eric pointed too, Hamilton has the common sense to look at his more experienced team mate and adjust his attitudes and learn.

Didn't LH recently more or less admit his first season charge for personal glory probably cost the team both championships? If he'd looked and learned a bit more, Alonso would have shown him how to bring both titles home.Eric Mc said:

I also feel that Lewis has a lot to learn, he has raw tallent and speed, however Button has been the smarter driver and that is how he's won twice this year. BUT Vettel has the same level of inexperience/experience as Hamilton and he makes much better desisions and judgement calls.

Agree with all of that. I can't decide if JB has been insipired or lucky with his wins, as deserved as they were. But you could probably say the same of Prost...rhinochopig said:

Ive always rated jenson, and he is a top bloke to boot.
