I have this nagging thought at the back of my mind that the SC today wasn't at all necessary but seeing as JB and NR were 70 seconds ahead of most of the field at the time a certain Mr Ecclescake saw the need to make the race more exciting and bunch up the field again. Maybe it's a result of all the crap that's gone on in F1 over the last few years but it did seem very strange.

I suspect part of it is linked to MB's comments about the marshalls.

No national series, limited experience of marshalls to recover cars/debris at F1 speeds. That material could possibly have been recovered under double waved yellows - but the camera angles weren't great fro seeing quite how much was spread across the track.

Call me cynical as well, but I suspect at most tracks that the SC wouldn't have been deployed.

Better to be safe than have bits of marshall spread across the track.

I agree with the double-yellows; most other races have seen those for that amount of debris, unless there was something we missed?

Wasn't the debris only in the pit entry? They could've closed the pitlane for a couple of laps.
