Marzipan smell?

I was at the GT1s at silverstone on friday and i noticed that alot of the cars exhaust fumes smelt like marzipan.

Is this to do with the fuel or additives, or was i getting wafts of the cafe?

I always thought the heat wrap on my turbo used to smell like that, too. awesome. Boost = cookie smell.
