In the wet was he? In a race car? The only reason he could do that is because the powered wheels are on the front which are on the track, I'd like to see anyone save that with that much angle, in the wet, in a RWD car.

No, the drifter did it in the dry, and took it beyond perpendicular to the track...

Nice to see Tom Onslow-Cole doing well though. He took me out for a spin in the RX-8 at Thruxton last year. Reckoned he could get bigger drift angles going in his FWD touring car than in the RWD Mazda...

BTCC is just non-stop action, everyone struggled on surtees that day though, every race series.

Errr, the back wheels were on wet grass. Driving out of that with RWD would have been problematic.

Yep and guess where I chose to watch the action....back of the pits by Surtees The Porsches were particularly adept at finding the slippery bits....

Pretty much. It does take a little bit of skill to do it right though, so you don't just fishtail around!

That was a superb save, and takes an awful lot more skill than just applying full lock and planting it.

its is quite an exhibition of skill but i also think the left rear tyre must dig into the dirt and help spin him back round the right way as it does kick up some dirt as he rejoins...

Well you start with full lock and planting it, but you have to moderate the power and wind the lock back off at the right time otherwise it will bite and snap back the other way in an even more un-controllable manner than the first slide. You actually have to start steering back straight before the car has gone back fully straight which takes a lot of skill and anticipation.

Obviously this is what I've been told by experts, I've never got a FWD car anywhere near that sideways, even though my formative years were spent Driving 205s ZXs and Saxos. RWD on the other hand, in my experience, involves hoping your expensive shiny piece of fibreglass from Norfolk stops rotating before it contacts with some immovable armco
