So which car are you building up as a roadcar - Owen's or Richrd's? Having seen Owen's replacement chassis/integral roll-cage at Andy Robinson Racing, I can't believe that's going into a roadcar!?!

No no no! I'm not making into a road car. I was just wondering how different it would have to be to be a road car. I can't see that it would be that different....

No, after the engine let go at silverstone I couldn't get another built in time.

Bad times! That's any championship hopes over!

That sucks Mike, hope you get it going and get out there soon!

If you find out anything about making the Tuscan road legal I'd certainly be interested to hear - I've been thinking the same about my one but have no idea what would be needed to do so. It would be quite funny to take it to the shops in full race trim - not sure it would stand a chance of getting over the speed hump at the end of my road though! Mine's technically a 1989 car though so the MOT/SVA rules might be a little more lax and I imagine I wouldn't need catalytic converters etc so probably just seat belts etc??

It’s a nice idea but not really very practical to do if the car is principally for racing

What is involved depends on how you intend registering it. As I understand it there are three methods - one fully legit, the other two less so.

The first is to put the car through an SVA test as Willie Ball did with his. Lots of things to consider including laminated glass windscreen, proper headlights that can be adjusted for aim, proper wipers, handbrake, radius of all exposed edges, types of switches, speedo and odometer, proximity (and minimum radius) of solid or sharp parts under the bonnet to the bonnet etc etc etc…. Really quite involved and time consuming. And you'd add quite a lot of weight for kit which gave no benefit to a race car. Willie is your man for this (tvrolet on here)

The second is to get a letter from TVR setting out that the car with chassis no 'x' was built as a roadgoing car but has been unregistered since being built. Been done a couple of times but not sure it is now feasible

Finally at least one person has cloned the identity of a written off TVR road car, copied chassis number etc and registered the Tuscan using that idenity. Not a route I'd ever consider, sounds wholly illegal

I've often thought it would be a laugh to pop down the road or motorway in the race car, but that's as far as the thinking ever got

No worries! I have a couple more at home though they are all fairly small and not great quality. I have some interesting hard copy pics at home as well including one of those cut-away pictures showing all of the internals done by an artist in Sweden some years ago! This one and the sister car (Danny's one) seemed to dissappear into a black hole when they went to Sweden though. I've tried to dig up some info on them but found very little. They did appear to win a lot of races though which is the main thing!

Not sure about the colour yet mate, got a couple of ideas still, going to make it a last minute snap decision I think! I've sent you mail about the trailer but I think it will have to be next week as I've got the girlfriends birthday amongst other things this weekend and I don't think I can get enough time to do it...
