rolleyes What a complete Tosser!

To the OP - He has no manager and Mclaren are looking after him at the moment. Rumours are that Mika or Brundle will be getting the job.

+1 to the Mika Hakkinen rumour. I've heard that somewhere else too.

Be fair, it was a mild joke.

Brundle would be a good choice. He needs someone to tell him what to do when PR stuff goes wrong.

He made a total mess of the whole wheel spin thing in Oz and lost his head in the race a little over it. An Alonso or a Button would have laughed it off in one sentence and moved on. Button was actually busted for 140mph ten years ago in a 330D, again the car was confiscated, he laughed it off saying that he was amazed a derv could go that fast. Job done, no press conference, no double page shame story.

His brother is still attending races though? Good to see him have some family support at races.

It was hardly the day before a GP and had the distinct whiff of being a manufacturer setup.

yes

A few 330d's were sold on the back of that, I'm sure.

True. My point kind of was that most F1 drivers seem to get a few stains on their driving licence. Lewis just managed to really come off badly from it. Instead of the press conference and having his head down the whole time he should have probably just kept quiet and when asked said "yeah, I spun the rear wheels up a little bit, I should have left the TC on but I'm kind of used to not having now in my company car. That AMG has a fair bit of shove, I'll get them to give me a diesel next time"

Job done. 99% of fans were on his side and would have gone along with that

I think the above sums up the difference between the two guys. I ask you one question.

Which response would James Hunt have given smile

Button wasn't a world champ when he got caught, and the media weren't out to bash him at the time.
The opposite was true of the Hamilton incident.

I beleive Senna was caught by the BIB on the M25 in a Porsche, who pulled him over and asked him if he was Nigel Mansell, to which he repliced (as you would expect) No I am Ayrton Senna...

That MAY be an urban legend though....

You're selling James Hunt a bit short there - James Hunt would have had to take the bird off his lap before getting out to speak to the Gendarmes, before confirming it was closer to 145mph... hehe

Hamilton needs to be cut some slack (we've all done mad stuff in our youff) - especially by a few anally retentive PH'ers. He's in danger of giving the sport some character. Let the lad be.

According to him Roy Salvadori was once asked by an officer of the law the "Who do you think you are, Stirling Moss?"

He was quite put out at the time biggrin

I think you will find that the Senna story relates to him being pulled over on the M40 and he was driving a Merc 500.
