Not sure I can remember the last weekend we had British 1-2 either side of the Pond in the two top flight series!
Have we even done a Brit 1-2 at Indy in recent memory?
Anyway, well done lads n lasses and the backroom staff. I think the top 5 or 6 cars home in Turkey were all built and designed in the UK, so we must be doing something right. Any chance of the powers that be might recognise British ability leading the way in either athletic ability or engineering ability within motor sport? A couple of gongs per chance?

One would hope so, we're pouring billions into the Olympics while our boys are winning motorsport events left right and centre and aren;t getting anywhere near the recognition for it! I know the Olympics are a larger thing but when was a motorsport man or woman given a knighthood, JYS?Have we even done a Brit 1-2 at Indy in recent memory?

Sir Frank Williams?But I totally agree with the sentiment!
The UK is a world leading force in an endeavour which is at the very front of sporting, technical and commercial achievement. That we are so poorly served and recognised by those who would seek to bask in the reflected glory is borderline shameful; that we continue to excel and strengthen our position despite this serves to highlight the idiocy, short-sightedness and disinterest of those who believe we have too many wheels and engines and not enough legs or balls.

It's very "un-British" to shout about actually being consistently good at something (British domination of top flight motorsport). Much more "British" to shout about our occasional successes in areas where the rest of the world has a chance. Especially if it allows our media (which is where these things are decided) to make heroes and villains out of the participants (often the same person is hero, then villain, then "reformed" back to hero again etc). Consistent success takes away the media sports writers ability to manufacture such "stories". 
It took a while but there are now a few motorsport nights -

Sir Jack Brabham
Over the years, quite a few OBEs and CBEs have also been dished out.
I think that there is a strong case for a knighthood for John Surtees.

There is a more than strong case for him, the only problem is that he has enemies in powerful places from events long ago and has effectively been 'black balled'. Not that I suspect he gives a fig.As for the Prof, he deserves one for his medical contributions outside of Motorsport, let alone in conjunction with it from what I have heard but again I suspect he couldn't give a hoot about it either. Ultimately many of those who should don't and those that do shouldn't. 'Twas ever thus.

As has been mentioned Sid is an OBE, but of more importance he is Prof. Sid Watkins. In many areas of recognition he is the pre-eminent name in neural surgery medicine in the world. He is about as recognised as it gets.
Oh and he is the only guy Bernie Ecclestone bows to. Now *thats* respect.
I don't think Commonwealth motor racing figures have done too badly - Sir Henry Segrave and Sir Malcolm Campbell both achieved recognition many moons ago. Donald Campbell was an OBE within his lifetime. Raymond Mays, Richard Noble, Andy Green, Lewis Hamilton, Damon Hill and Jenson Button have all been honoured so I don't see British endeavours going unrecognised. I think a knighthood should really be reserved for quite exceptional achievement.
Oh and back on topic - awesome weekend for the Brits. With Paffett and di Resta in DTM, we should have a decent season. Hopefully Sims, Webb, Dolby and Turvey can get the business done in the other formulae too. What chance a Guy Wilks win in IRC too?
