The Delta Wing car is interesting because the engine is not stressed. This makes it much easier to drop different engines into the chassis and the engines can be must closer to normal engines.

Well that is what is so exciting about this. Not only may it bring reliable high output (lots of bhp) to a street car in the near future, it could come in in some unusual designs - V-angles, cylinder orientation etc.

What I like about that is the differences. For the last 10 years or more, F1 cars have been more and more designed by the rule book with the result that the differences are tiny, supposedly putting the emphasis on driver skill. IMO it has simply put the emphasis on those minute differences and meant whoever is 1/10th quicker in qualifying is 1/10 a lap quicker throughout the race, and wins by 5 seconds after 50 laps.
Better have a mix of cars, some that are fast but blow up often, some that are slow but don't need to refuel, some that eat their tyres in 10 hot laps and some that can make a set last all afternoon. Yes it would put some more emphasis on team strategy etc but it would also make for more interesting racing IMO.
I might even watch Indycars for those odd races where they're not driving round in circles...

The ones where they are driving round in circles have overtaking on the track. The ones on "road" courses typically have nearly as much overtaking on the track as a Monaco F1 race.I dont get all of this "Motorsport must relate to road cars' garbage.

Thats what makes motorsport interesting- watching the exotic, unachievable beasts pounding round a race circuit.
Struth- at this rate I might be better of paying money to watch the M1 motorway.
WRC- Stick to proper 2lt Turbo, all signing all dancing electricity diffs etc.
F1- V10, 20,000rpm all the way.
Indy/CART- V8 turbo?
Toca- 2lt turbo/ high revving 2lt inc 6 cylinder.
GT- proper beefy engines and sequential boxs that whine away and change pitch when they hit bumps etc.
The good old days of watching the Lister Storm GT1 tear up Croft is distant, diminishing memory.
In comparison to football (shudder) no one whats to watch a bunch of overweight builders from Peckham play for Chelsea United (;))
The premier league is full of the elite, high earning players and is popular for a reason!

A lot of it seems to be meaningless overtaking though. Someone gets a slipstream, goes past and the next time round the other car comes back past just the same. And so on and so on.
I have seen exciting oval racing. One of the old CART races a few years ago where 3-4 cars were battling for the lead throughout the race.
