Op scheduled for later this afternoon. Will still tune in tomorrow, and don't deny he's left a big hole, but the way it's being talked about you'd think he'd died.

Hopefully the fact that Pedrosa stuck it on pole - on hard tyres - might mean that gorgeous George might not have it all his own way in terms of the championship

Looking on the bright side it means by the time he is back the shoulder will be fine. Hope he isn't a believer in bad things happening in threes.

Unless Jorge Porgy screws up, this should be his year now.

At least the two months off will mean his shoulder gets time to heal too, so he should come back fully fit, in bike racer terms anyway!

What's the betting when he does he comes back and wins every race, just to put whoever has pretty much got the title sewn up by then back in their box?

I doubt it, he's probably figuring out how to pin it back together for the next race.

A terrible shame for the championship - for me Rossi lifts motogp way above any other racing series. It would not surprise me if the championship actually becomes very competitive now - without Rossi as a benchmark I can see Lorenzo drifting back into the Pedrosa/Stoner pack which should make for interesting watching.

TBH, I don't think even Vale could have lived with Dani today. At times, the boy was lapping less than a second off qualifying pace

That is an interesting theory. Without the Rossi / Schumacher / Loeb types to attempt to chase down, would the standard of those best able to cope drop a little to become a more equally paced pack?

Not sure I agree 100%, or whether it could ever be successfully measured in any way, but its certainly an interesting thought.

Not being deliberately contrary, but I thought the opposite - Rossi has been such a dominant presence, the competition is essentially for second place; so whilst the cat's away.... And yesterday was a case of Pedrosa upping his game, not Lorenzo slacking - though even with team relations as they are he may have been a little discombobulated this time. He's still best placed to clean up, but has also been known to fall off...



Rossi is the reason I started watching MotoGP, but despite his absence I thought yesterday's race was a good one, first the battle for second, and then for 4th... good stuff.

Gutted about Rossi although it's great to see Pedrosa upping his game a bit. For some reason I just can't warm to Lorenzo or Stoner so it's nice to have another rider up there as well.

Who's going to get Rossi's ride for the next few races then?

I believe the rumour is Colin Edwards, got to say though I'd like to see Ben Spies get the ride. Or maybe bring back Toseland....

Rossi will be back on a bike, testing on a Yamaha R1 on Wednesday. Not sure if they mean today or next Wednesday though

Still, its only a month since he went crunch, and if the R1 test goes well he wants to be racing again in Germany on 18th July .
