Finally got around to arranging to watch I player abroad, thanks to www.my-private-network.co.uk just a quick Q if anyone knows.

How long after the end of the transmission is it before the prog becomes avail to view. FAQ's on the BBC site just says some progs not available immediately as they have to be put in a form suitable for downloading, anyone know when this usually is, same eve (for a European race) or next day ?

I've found it varies - 2-3 hrs for some shows, an hour for radio progs and 4-6hrs for longer events/programmes.

There is a BBC blog somewhere about the process if you are interested.. essentially it's done by a 3rd party - they take the final stream from the BBC, transcode to the various formats and then upload back to the iPlayer server farm which is why it takes a few hours...
