McLaren Woking - Silverstone journey time record,
Discussion
Not sure if this is "urban Legend" or not, but I seem to recall a story about F1 drivers doing timed journeys between Woking and Silverstone in the old days before Scameras.
I am sure I heard that Damon Hill was a passenger on one of these journeys and was physically sick when he got out of the car at Silverstone... Like I said, anyone care to confirm or deny?

Not sure about that one, but I do remember a story of Ayrton Senna leaving the M4 heading west and joining the M25 going clockwise and doing well over 80 mph around the exit slip road in a Lotus.
Mika Hakkinen in a M-B 180 driving to Monza from his hotel was also an interesting experience for those who were his passengers.

that seems a bit dull to me. maybe you should read some of the stories that appeared in autosport years ago concerning the antics that a certain mr villeneuve (gilles) used to get up to when driving from monaco to the ferrari factory.
from what i recall on every trip he used to try & beat the time he set on the previous journey. i also recall mr scheckter saying that after just one trip with gilles in his 308 gtb he would never get into a car with him again.
of course, he did.....
there were numerous stories of high speed jaunts, hand brake turns into car parks, racing other cars on the roads, trips up into the ountains, etc all of which gilles loved because he loved driving.
all highly illegal, probaby quite stupid & dangeous yet, somehow, because it was gilles no one seemed to give a toss.
isnt that how it should be?
i also recall reading stories of what gilles got up to once he had discovered helicopters!
