Bottle thrown by the Spantards fans
Discussion
Seeing Hamilton's wonderfully goading retort at Alonso again not being able to accept he simply wasn't good enough, it reminded me of that bottle that was thrown onto the track during the race.
Anyone think that was due to the hatred of Hamilton by the hatred Alonso fuels, in that devolved way the racist Spanish behave?
They should drop one of the Spanish GP's as punishment, if not, both. What the hell, they're the crappest races on the calendar anyway.
Or am I reading too much into that?

I was under the impression that that particular part of the circuit had no grandstands or place for fans to watch. My guess is that it was a marshall or circuit worker that left it lying around from the evening before and it got blown or sucked onto the circuit in error.
Unless I've missed something about it definately being the spanish fans?

Since you're talking about racism and bigotry, and as an Spaniard, would you be so kind to explain why are you accusing a whole country and what's the experience that drives you to use expressions like "Spantards" and "that devolved way the racist Spanish behave"?
Since I've lived in several countries and I haven't felt Spain to be one of the most racist ones, I'd be grateful if you could point me to the "devolved way" and try to combat it to the extent I can manage.
Thank you,
David

Firstly, the most common mistake of humanity is to judge others by your own standards. Yours may be somewhat higher. I have low standards.Since I've lived in several countries and I haven't felt Spain to be one of the most racist ones, I'd be grateful if you could point me to the "devolved way" and try to combat it to the extent I can manage.

The humungus number of racist spanish comments I have to delete from most of my pro-Hamilton videos on youube, in fact IIRC it's the ONLY comment that comes from Spanish posters, even for me is eye-openly shocking. And maybe you forgot the racist group of fans in, was it 2008 spanish GP?
But then the few often soil the reputation of the many and I'm probably being too judgemental...

Anyway, it was a goad.
The contrived point was that fans throwing objects onto the track is seriously dangerous and devolved form that I've not seen in F1 before. And recently there has been the inevitable influx of heightened Spanish interest in F1... 1+1 and all that. If indeed it was a fan doing that and if it was aimed at anyone in particular. Alonso certainly isn't one to have the most... evolved... attitude in F1, consistently. I see his repeated I-deserve-this form being representative of the spanish and at the very least is certainly something to influence their attitudes. Tell me I'm wrong.
btw, 'spantard' is the increasingly common reference to Alonso and meant as a singular (my bad, should've put an apostrophie in there), not the spanish in general. No, I didn't start that.

I suppose these morons were not Spanish then? Since I've lived in several countries and I haven't felt Spain to be one of the most racist ones, I'd be grateful if you could point me to the "devolved way" and try to combat it to the extent I can manage.

I blame Alonso frankly. He is so petulant when he should be a role model and it doesn't help.
On racism in Spain, I thought this article summed it up fairly well.

You guys are missing the point. I actually like Alonso, I certainly think he's one of the top drivers, although he was rubbish on Sunday, was passed by Kobayashi FFS and then compounded it by whinging like a girl afterwards. After all this is the guy who won a race because his team mate deliberatley crashed.
His comments about Hamilton just fuel the idiots on both sides though.
On another note, why we have two Spanish GP's is beyond me anyway. They are usually dull as ditchwater, Sunday was a rare exception.

Michelin gate, USA GP, some "fans" threw cans onto the race track. If there was a Spanish "fan" throwing bottles on the track, then that would have been one moron to many, but all nations have them sadly. Even at the British GP we have seen worse with a mad irishman throwing himself on the track with a soap board round his neck, the worlds full of nutters and every so often they become noticeable.

Can you do an annotated video to prove that the bottle was thrown by a Spanish fan?
Nope. Just been looking for it in the race, but I got bored and gave up trying to find it (am I the only one who saw that as a boring race???). But if the bottle was not thrown on the track by a fan, how did it get there? Was it Mark Webber's drinks bottle that flew out when he flew?

Michelin gate, USA GP, some "fans" threw cans onto the race track.Although that would've been aimed at a farcical F1 race than one particular person presumably being favoured (or beating Alonso, again) by the FIA as a matter of repeatable and increasing form.
There was an issue with paper bags and rubbish being thrown onto the track at the US GP 1985, but those yanks have a lot of junk food to obediently consume their way through and bins can only be as big as small countries...

lol true. There's be one or two of those death-wish fans. Some cultures consider self-sacrifice honourable. But using missiles are cowardice (says the Spartan warrior! lol). And kobbing a bottle at a car is not quite the same as a coin at a football player.Tom Pryce and Fire Extinguisher or Massa last year shows the dangers of E=MC2 even with a small object. Should be investigated IMO as I reckon it wasn't innocent.

From a few of the shots of marshal posts, they did seem to be a fair few non-official looking people milling about with the marshals.Unless I've missed something about it definately being the spanish fans?

It went nuclear?!!?!
It's wrong to say that all Spanish people are racist (of course)... however, Spain does have an issue with racism in sport as has been widely reported, not just in F1 by a minority but more infamously, in football. It's fair to say that England is a fair few steps ahead in this regard but then that's a fair comparison with most of Europe.
As for the bottle, we don't know - however, I cannot believe that it accidentally found it's way onto the track... possible but unlikely.

Didn't the English football team come across some unpleasant chanting when they played in Spain not long ago?
Unfortunately, big global sporting events is when your nation is judged by the rest of the world and where reputations come from, i am not saying it is right but it happends.
Hence we are known for our football holigans.
