stupid question i know however here goes - has the start/finish line been moved this year as there is an article in autosport today that says 'copse will no longer be the first corner so special attention has to be paid to abbey bearing in mind that the pack will be thundering into this turn after lights-out at the start'.

whilst elsewhere in autosport the flag is shown on the pits straight.

so which is correct?

As of 2011 the new pitlane and start/finish area will be between Abbey and Club it would seem

That's not a bump. They're used to driving on extremely flat surfaces, this is just a bit of a setup challenge.

As Ant said, Monaco is basically a cobble road compared to the super smooth tracks that many drivers are used to, a bump mixes things up when it's not an obtuse one at an obtuse track such as Bahrain!

not wanting to start a new topic. mega impressed with the new layout for silverstone. plenty of passing opertunities. a real throw it up the inside corner too in the new section. fantastic!

With the new pits built on the inside of the track, most of the (current) grand stands wont be able to see the pits or start/finish line.

is this a good idea?

The ones on the current start finish straight aren't permanent anyway, they can be moved.

I had a look at the building works this weekend, it does look mighty impressive, They are building a new permanant pavillion with a club house and toilets / showers in the campsite as well for next year. All they need to do now is sort out the water pressure problems they encountered and jobs a goodun I reckon

Is that the public campsite as I am there for the Le Mans Series in Sept and wondered what it was like (camped at Whittlebury for this weekend and again for the Classic).

The start/finsihh line has moved at least twice before in the history of Silverstone.

Yep, it's the woodlands site behind the circuit. It's only in it's temporary guise at present, but the toilets are adequate, the showers are quite acceptable, there's entertainment laid on on a festival-esque stage and some food outlets. There's a big beer tent with real ale as well. When they build the new pavillion / clubhouse / shower and toilet block it'll be well worth the 45 quid to stop there I think.

Most of it was already there, so not exactly a major landscaping job.

Anyone know what the attendance was this year? despite the record friday attendance it didn't look as packed as last year on race day.
