On track action shots from the Silverstone Classic

Hi there,

I have started working my way through the 2000 or so pics from Silverstone this weekend.

As I said in my last post there were some absolutely stunning cars taking part in the packed race card including 4 Ferrari 250 GT SWB's, 4 Jaguar C Types, and 2 Maserati T61 'Birdcage's.

I will keep adding to this post as I work through my pics. Here is the first set: -

Lets start with a true legend. Sir Stirling Moss makes his racing return

God Almighty this car was stunning



BMW Tisa 1800 on the old part of the circuit heading for Bridge

Very pretty Ferrari 365GTB/4 Daytona in the Italian Historic Car Cup

Two of my favourites, D Type leads C Type



Lotus chases down Aston Martin



Finally a true rarity. Porsche 356B GTL Abarth bought over from the museum for the event.

was there the full weekend and was awesome, your pictures do it justice.

The drb1 on sunday sliding, drifting through priory and luffield was breath taking!

Tim, did you get any of a Yellow Maserati 200s with a green stripe in the Sir Stirling Moss Trophy, or a pale green Alfa TZ in the Italian Historic Car Cup?

I too was at the Farm Complex and the late 60's American cars were drifting thrugh those corners as if on ice...left the Jags behind.

F1 cars whould run on less scientifically designed tyres, it would make for much better racing.

The 5 car in that last pic is truly enormous, 7 litre engine meant it out-dragged most things on the straights but had to back off about 10 miles before

Love the 250GT SWB, and it's tour de france and lusso variations, much better proportioned than a 275 or a GTO. And when the euromillions rolls over my way, I will have one. Oh yes it will be mine....

.... and I was very disappointed there was no live coverage on Motors of it this year, expected to see some at least on Sundays, and had make do with with some re run of Le Mans Classic, which was no hardship. Hopefully there is highlights programme in the offing?

I heard that a rare E Type got pretty well stuffed on saturday afternoon. Have no wish to be ghoulish, just wondered what it was & how badly the diver was hurt (i hope he wasnt too bad) as i was told he had to be cut from the wreckage.

Silver lightweight was heavily damaged on the Saturday. Very sad and yes the cage and roof had to be cut off. The car was left in park ferme for the weekend under a cover. No info on the driver.


And Tim, absolutely fantastic photos - I totally agree - some of the cars were just beautiful. I was loving the 250 SWB's and the 330 GTO was seriously pretty too. I was a particular fan of the T70's in the sportscar race as they just sound fanastic, mind you the Galaxy's in the big engined touring cars sounded pretty special too!

Thanks for posting them. Some cracking pictures and some gorgeous cars but the one shown above is absolutely stunning. My favourite Ferrari sports car so therefore my favourite sports car. And my favourite car I suppose.

I saw Moss driving on at Brands in the early 60s and it looked stunning at speed.

There was no filming at all this weekend - either for onsite screens or TV, so little chance of a highlights programme I'm afraid.
