For that, check my early postings on the Hungary GP thread.

From those postings you'll see I placed my bets prior to any practice and qualifying. I did that because of the 'lucky' Ferrari 1-2 in Germany, lucky that 'the boy' Vettel cocked up the start and Webber his qualifying which created a false impression of the RB's true race form and so better Hungary odds were available before Ps and Qs on both Vettel and his team mate. So, I took 9-4 Vettel to a fair bet and a few quid each way Button too. I've won a lot on Button's finishes this season ... and last ... and when he has a 'bad' qualifying, odds on his various race aspects ~ leader at any point in the race ~ top six finish ~ podium etc ~ can be relatively generous. If it rains he will play a major part tomorrow on past 'wet' form.

I've had another each way bet on Button as some of his odds are tempting ... but, he is not my main bet .. only a side bet. Hamilton may be better odds for something tomorrow.

Not had any other bets and I will wait until a few minutes before the off tomorrow before deciding if another bet(s) is worthwhile, depending on the odds available then just before the race. Some really BIG bets will be placed by then which will affect some odds ~ I know some members of the teams set ~ and just maybe, there will be some exceptional value to be had then.

Always remembering, there's no such thing as a racing certainty even if you drive a Red Bull and put it on Pole a number of times ... keep that always in mind...

... and above all, be lucky ...we all could do with some of that occasionally.
..

That's great odds. I can see Ham being 3rd after Turn 1 as it's quite a long straight befote T1 and the F duct will do it's thing.

You'd have got much longer odds for someone leaving a radiator intake blank on his car at the start ... smile

That was a poor show and I thought Button's reaction to that fiasco was ultra cool ... I'd have done me nut ... but then I'm no F1 driver...

Not too clued up? You arn't kidding, most other places have Hamilton podium as 2/1

some of the odds offered this year have been frankly stupid.

Betfair seems to have better prices usually. (Also, because you're betting against other betters, the bookie is just profiting from profits you make rather than crazy odds. Correct me if I'm wrong.)

Note:~

Unusually, Hills are more generous with their odds for the Spaniard than bet365. 7-1 compared to 5-1. Note for each way betting, their place odds are 1/3rd ... places 1st and 2nd only at this stage. However, they are offering Podium odds so bet to win only plus a bet for a podium for places on your chosen driver.

Jenson Button is 100-1 for the win ...smile....but, only 8-1 for the podium.... instead of 1/5th ( 20-1 ) the odds for a 1-2 or 3 finish. The bookies have respect for his chances... but, at this course, that's all they are ... chances.. slim ones at that..

Button is a skinny odds on at 8/11 for a top six finish. Good odds maybe ~ maybe not ~ not in my opinion. Certainly he make up five places in the race which he has been known to do frequently. Button made very good progress from the start in Germany only to have his progress badly hampered by the checking up of Vettel in the Red car sandwich... Remember ... anything is possible at the start.

I have had an each way "saver" on the Spaniard ~ in case both Seb and Mark get it wrong at the off. It's one of those bets that I hope loses... for a number of reasons ... if he wins, it'll cover my outlays on my preferred bets.

I shall trawl the numerous F1 betting opportunities up to the off at 1300 hrs. If I spot some good value, I'll mention it here if there's time before the red lights go out. If you do, please post them up on this thread. I would welcome any contribution here ~ from the 'know alls' or betting novices....that way we all can learn ... or not.. smile

Now well into the season, good value has become harder to find... tis always thus .... but it is there ... sometimes ... frown
..

EDIT to add @ 12.28

Button at 100-1 eway 1/3rd odds a place 1-2 means 33.3-1 a place 1 or 2. Asking a lot, but it has happened as it did once at this very track. I remember it well... it was the first time I won money on Jenson Button...

Got the TV on now ....I'm going to watch and listen to the pundits on BBC's excellent pre-race build up. Always enjoy that now. Unlike other 'judges' here on PH, I have ALWAYS enjoyed the contributions of Eddie Jordan... and continue to do so.
