Cause and effect I guess. Drivers bang into each other and have a crash at Brands, rather than the circuit causing the issue.That one wasn't somewhere that the circuit was the cause of the issue, but did perhaps contribute to the outcome purely because of where it happened. It's almost like the accident at Snetterton a few weeks back where the incident just happened to take place in a location where a bridge was close to the track.
You could argue that the circuit did a good job of containing the energy of this crash, with no errant wheels or the like seeming to make it into the spectator enclosure.

Unfortunately your memory isn't serving you correctly - Henry's accident was two corners further on (i.e. between Westfield & Sheene corners).Edited by touring fan on Sunday 1st August 21:40

Hi, I was their at the exact spot where it happened ! If the early reports of the drivers condition are true then he is very very lucky indeed. I went to brands with my friend who has never been before and was showing him around the best viewing spots as I am local to the track and have been going out their since a very young boy. We had just left the south bank area in the car and said I would show him the cars coming down the main straight and going under the bridge and out the other side ( which is impressive ) . Due to the lack of people that attended this meeting it was easy to see from any spot so I pulled up in the car on the left hand side of the bridge behind Druids. From here you can see the cars come down the straight, under the bridge and out the other side. I was looking left down the straight when all of a sudden my friend shouted "crash!" I looked around to see the car flying through the air. Now what happened next is what you do not see on the tv footage and you tube clips and is actually only the end of the accident! It was a classic Mark Webber accident. The car ran into the one in front of him when trying to overtake which sent him back flipping into the air. At this point the car also started veering off to the right and clipped the marshals hut! It then gained hight and if you imagine looking at the bridge as you come down the straight it flew up and hit the front of the bridge in the far right hand corner!he just missed clearing the safety fencing and coming over. For those of you who know Brands that shows you how high and fast the car went as that part of the track has high banking above it. Anyway the car was then somehow thrown back under the bridge where you can then see it continued to be thrown into the barrier etc etc. This part of the accident is what you see on tv. The bridge was a bit of a mess and we drove around and spoke to the women who was a marshal at the hut that was clipped and it looked like she had seen a ghost and was cleary in shock. I will be honest I did not think the driver had much chance and as me and my friend are firefighters and seen our fair share of things we did not want to sit and gawp at him lying motionless and moved on. Nah, he didn't spot it too late, he wanted to make him back off and lose his momentum by shutting the door at the last moment to prevent the passI've had this done to me many, many times, one of my pet hates in fact, and I rarely forget who has done it...

But you can't see the shunt in them. Didn't want to video the whole race as I wanted to see it for myself, not through a viewfinder.
