The Great One, # 46, will announce...............
Discussion
Watching and listening to the Eurosport MotoGP commentary during free practice does reveal a lot of things you won't normally hear during qualifying and the race.
Apparently its pretty much a given that Rossi is off to Ducati, the rumours are so prevalent that their has to be an element of truth to it! If he goes, he takes FIAT with him as personal sponsors and that means the money that controls FIAT also controls Ferrari. Ferrari F1 have actively pursued and proposed to the FIA and FOTA a similar system of customer run teams like they do in MotoGP and WSBK's, where a team leases a bike and sets of engines from a manufacturer (Satellite team). If allowed, we will more than likely see Rossi contesting in a F1 car which means big money for Ducati, FIAT & Ferrari and Bernie.
Also FYI mattikake, Stoner is off to Honda so it will likely be Rossi pairing Hayden at Ducati in 2011.

This will never happen. Rossi and Ferrari will continue their merry dance as it is in both of their interests to maximise their publicity but the day you see Rossi racing in F1 is the day I pass him into turn 1 on a Force India. Rossi is 31 now and has never raced cars (apart from dabbling in karts at a young age and the occassional rally and F430 challenge). There's no way he's going to F1. I'd say it's more likely that you will see him in WSBK if he decides to do anything after MotoGP.mattikake said:
Stoner and Rossi on the same bike maybe? Ooooh.
No.
Casey has signed for Repsol Honda for 2011, and Vale aint going back to the team he left in 2004. He enjoyed riding the RC211V, but the team spirit was not his cup of tea. I suspect he'll move to Ducati. The ponderable is whether Jerry Burgess will go with him.
If Jerry doesn't, then maybe (I can't believe I'm saying this) we'll find out whether Doohan and Rossi were great riders, or that their success was borne on the shoulders of one of the greatest motorcycle engineers ever. Some say that Fast Freddie Spencer was only fast due to Erv Kanemoto's genius in bike setup.
Actually, thinking about it, I've been watching Vale since 1997 and he's always been able to ride "around" a bike with problems. So even if Jerry doesn't migrate to Ducati, I still think he'd get an unprecedented 3rd title on three different bikes.

Even though I believe Rossi would be better off staying at Yamaha, I think he will switch to Ducati. If so, I don't imagine they would want Jerry Burgess, although Rossi could demand it if he wanted to keep the partnership going.
Ben Spies on a works Yamaha - that will be worth watching.

Why wouldn't they want the most succesful chief engineer and crew in the paddock on their team? The rumour is that Stoner's mechanics have already been told that their contracts will not be renewed at the end of the year. This suggests that there is a completely new team coming into that side of the garage.Ben Spies on a works Yamaha - that will be worth watching.
