Somewhere between the two, I'd say. It's usually quite crowded - IIRC, last year there were quite a lot of chavs there because it's a freebie. But it's a good day out, quite good fun. 
Apologies for the thread hijack, but I don't suppose anyone would have a spare pair of tickets to this that they're not using, would they? I could give them a good home...

I'm not liking the sound of this with overweight chavs, now you've said that I won't feel like I've been robbed after I've bought F1 tickets every year if it's keeping out the dregs like that.

Don't let the chavs put you off! If you go down the far end of the circuit to places where they can't be bothered to waddle, it's not so bad. The stands are reasonably okay, too. And let's face it, there are chavs wherever you go these days. They're not there in such numbers as to make normal people (okay then, PHers! 
) stand out like a sore thumb, there are plenty of people who go for the on-track action as well.
The chavs are easy to hear before you see them - and they're the ones who congregate in huge hoards on the terracey bits, spreading out their deckchairs and beer boxes and stuff. Or else they wander in packs around the track. They tend to stay in herds, so just steer clear of them. We normally just find somewhere to sit in the stands and stay there for a while. The chavs tend to just go for the day out, they don't often sit for long to watch what's happening on track.
ETA: I'd be happy to give your spare ticket a home if you don't want it. But only if you're not using it!

Ill be going this year, i went twice when it was at donnington and its probably the best "one make" show ive been to. there is a lot of variety etc so is a good laugh and cars for every generation and some good close racing with the clios and megannes too ) stand out like a sore thumb, there are plenty of people who go for the on-track action as well. Any ph'ers doing same?I'm a serious motor-racing fan and I went to my first WSBR event last year. Suffice to say I'll be going every year from now on.
I hate chavs generally and there are a lot here, but so what? You only hate dogsh!t if you step in it, so just avoid the chavs like you would any other pile of s

On that basis, I went to the first WSR day at Donington and it was OK. The second year was dreaful though. Full of disrespectful chavs and general bad behaviour. Honestly, seeing the World Series was not worth tolerating the chumps, especially as you could be at Goodwood Revival instead - the diametric opposite of what will be happening at Silverstone. Sorry to be negative, but I go to 25 race meetings a year and wouldn't even consider WSR.
