Help - Chris Van Der Drift - Charity Race
Discussion
Hi
Was wondering if anyone could help me.
Firstly would like to say I was really glad to read he's on the road to recovery, my god that was a big shunt.
Secondly, I read there was a charty race at Daytona MK, could anyone shed anymore light on this. Would love to compete in it.
Thanks
Ryan

For those who are unaware if the details:
After chris's scary accident (2nd highest gforce survived in racing), he is in a bit of a situation.
I will avoid the potentially libellous stuff, but basically Chris has not got medical cover for the advanced sports therapy (chryochamber like what Mark webber used) & he has not been getting prize money this year.
Tuesday 7th, benefit karting event at Daytona Milton Keynes from 1700.
Spectators welcome - as are donations (there will be a charity auction with several exclusive items availinle)
Contact Jess: jessicaracing@googlemail.com
The event also has a facebook page (just search chris van der drift karting).
Special guest- Mark webber

What does a chryochamber do? according to this :

He 'only' broke a shoulder, an ankle and a couple of fingers. I was thinking 'why does he need charity?' but obviously there's more to his injuries than the papers make out!

Did anyone else race? My team (Race Drivers Inc.com) came 8th out of the 31 teams. Daytona decided to do a reverse grid, meaning our 9th in quali, turned out to be 22nd on the grid!!! The amount of driving talent there was amazing (even if it didn't always show on track!). Highlights included watching Fulvio Mussi sneak past about 10 karts on the way to the rolling start and Karun Chandok trying to catch the pack back up after being given a 30 sec penalty on the first lap.
Just a small correction - it wasn't Daytona who decided to flip the grid, it was Chris's own warped sense of humour - literally came out with it 1 minute before the grid order was to be called.
Well done on the result & thanks to all the drivers for entertaining the decent sized crowd (race control were tearing their hair out at the shall we say exuberant driving but it was funny)
I was your last minute substitute commentator (literally last minute, so no prep time - hence the somewhat stuttery performance)
Brilliant event, all involved should be really proud.
