Taking away the points based championships who has impressed or disappointed you the most this year to date in F1?
For me it's been Kubica. Good results from a pretty indifferent car.
Webber outdoing his supposedly stellar team mate coming in at number two.
Worst is definitely Vettel IMHO. Best car, fast driver. Too many stupid errors.

Very close between Kubica and Webber for me, but I think Webber has the edge; he's just surpassed all expectations and really pushed himself to be a title contender. Good to see Kubica pushing Renault forward - been really impressed with Petrov as well considering he's scored some decent points in his first season of F1. Rosberg is also worth a mention (doing well against his teammate) but others have capitalised better.
Worst for me is Alonso, he might be supremely talented, but he's just come across as a whinging baby this year.

I also think Button deserves a bit of a mention - an awful lot of commentators thought he was going to be beasted by Hamilton. That hasn't really happened, and he does seem to be teaching Hamilton a few things.
Worst :
Alonso for me. Far too many mistakes for supposedly the best driver on the grid (according to many others).

It's Hamilton of course. He leads the chapionship in what is not the best car and apart from two mechanical failures he would be leading by much more.

Lewis deserves to be in the lead and seems to have delivered more that his car’s potential against Red Bull, but Mark has been very impressive this year, particularly at Monaco.
Jensen has shown great resolve and driven a lot better than I expected.

Lewis by a long way. I think with the RB's you've got 2 "good" drivers who are in 1 of the best race cars ever built and that's where their results have come from. Lewis made his position in F1 in the first corner in his first race. Webber is at his best and Vettel just can't mix it with the other's.

Kobayashi for some truly stellar performances.

Hamilton for me! He's not only out performing his car but also became a true professional, McLaren have done a superb job of managing and developing him as not only a potentional great, but from a boy to a man...

Actually the car was designed for Jenson Button, and the focus to change the design path was very late given the development of the car started well before MS and NR were moving to brawn. Jenson left very late remember..James allen's blog had a good section on designing cars to drivers, it was really interestng.
if we look at the best drivers from the top teams, you would have to say:

Alonso (not Massa)
Hamilton (not Button)
Now Hamilton is leading the championship, he doesn't have the best car, and he has had a couple of excellent finishes taken away through unreliability. I think he has to be the best so far. He is outperforming the car in all likelihood.

Car was designed for Button and the design was finalised around November time. Schumacher made his announcement just before Christmas. No conspiracy here.Forums | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
