Can some kind soul clarify the points scoring system for me. According to the published rules:

"Only full point will be awarded, but there must be more than three cars in class {A B or C} starting the race. If less then three cars only half point awarded."

So if there are more than three cars, full points; if there are less than three cars, half points. What if there are three cars? Is it half points or full points?

Point for fastest lap point is clear:

"Fastest lap per {A B or C} class each race 1 bonus point [as long there is a minimum of three cars in the class racing]. less than three cars in class no fastest lap point awarded to that class."

Three cars in class and the point for fastest is awarded.

Secondly, what happens when there are drivers who aren't registered competing? Eg at Rockingham with Andy and Mike in the first two places, does Dean get points for a class win or for class third place?

I will check with Geoff today and get him to clarify with Reidy but I am pretty sure the regs should be interpreted:

3 Or more cars Full points
Less than 3 cars half points.

Regards invitation cars then I am pretty sure if they have joined in mid way into the season as an invitation, Results are not considered.

If the entrant has registered at the begining of the season then the points are classified.

Will give Geoff a bell.

As I understand it : less than 3 cars in class then points are halved and no extra point for fastest lap. 3 cars or more then full points eligibility. Invitations are excluded for the purpose of points calculation. That's how Nick has awarded the points so far this season:

^ What he said! The rules for low starting numbers have changed this year and these are the new rules. I will do the points this afternoon and have them up as soon as I can access my storage space. Does anyone know who did the timing at Rock? Was it TSL?

Rules have not changed Nick, still read the same as last year but everyone seems happy to read them as suggested. wink

Nick - if you can get the points updated today can you e-mail them to me. Otherwise I'll have to run with my "unofficial" version. Presumably if a non-regsitered driver takes fastest lap, the point for fastest lap does not get awarded?

TSL results are here http://www.tsl-timing.com/brscc/2010/103432.pdf

Thanks to everyone for their help.

The points for low starters used to be -4 for 2 starters and -6 for 1 starter with no fastest lap. Its only this year that its gone to half points that I'm aware as this is written on the old point sheets I have too..?

Anyway, its all sorted now and I've done the points. I just need to give JR a call to clarify the results and then I'll get them published. I can't access my normal points server from work though so if you want them up before then, cam someone please drop me a mail and I'll send them the points so they can be uploaded in a temporary location until I can upload them as normal tonight.

Apologies Nick the regs have indeed changed to reflect clearly the 1/2 points issue for less than three cars - last years description of 1/2 point awards was not clear but had a similar intent.

Nick - I have a rare opportunity to get the latest results in Sprint before the final round but I have to be quick (that's why I started the thread). If you've got them and you want them in the magazine can you e-mail them to me - tracked@tvrcc.com or via my profile

I can use mine but I'd rather have the official list if available

And on one of Chris Woolgar's original points, how can a driver race in the series without being registered for points? Does it imply that he has not paid a registration fee to JR as race organiser/owner ad is therefore only allowed to "guest" his car on an occasional basis through the season?

It was always if you joined the championship after a particular date you could not score points. This is to stop someone bringing in a couple of ringers at the end of a season, to take points off someone else...

There have also been cases where if someone is only doing 1 or 2 rounds, they have not scored points.

Also The invitation class doesnt get points as its erm an invitation class.

Its not linked to payment or not of the Championship fee

Maybe its s discussion point for the mailing list. would it be better if a car runs it gets points end off...

They'll be on the points list...?

well done for the Rock guys.

True there weren't many of you, but you were all dicing through the pack.
VERY entertaining, pretty busy looking circuit and the commentator nearly had a fit!

So you are registered for points if you are on the points list, how come Pete Reeve who started his season at BH isn't registered (no points), but Billy Thompson is for BH?
Moreover Gary Lancashire started at Mallory and is registered (well on the points list) and so is Perry Waddams who only started last weekend at Rock?
Is the cut-of date the half-way point i.e. you must be out by race 4 MP this year or is it a set date?
All very confusing!

I suspect its because Pete only ever intended to do a couple of races, and the others intended to do the full season. Probably to do with when they signed up more than anything else.

This is something we should be able to make clearer Next season. once we have a more updatable web site. On there we can publish a list of championship competitors and a list of people who are guesting and not competing for points.

I did suggest last season that I'd not run for points as I only intended on doing 2 - 3 rounds. I thought that was a good idea as it meant if you comitted to the championship I didnt upset the points situation. It caused all sorts of consternation, as If I manage a finish I generally take a fair few points and in multi class racing it really mixes things up. Maybe it should just be unless your running in Invitation you get championship points, even if your are just guesting for one round.

a discussion point for the oultonmtg perhaps?
