Vettel v Button - things could get messy

An interesting scenario is building with the main title contenders now being defined as Webber , Hamilton and Vettel after the German's stupid clumsy overtaking attempt put JB's car out of the race and made Jenson's title retention a lot less likely , it occurred to me that Vettel could be coming across a very wide McLaren if in the last few races he needs to get by JB in a hurry and JB has no chance of the title , in fact no one would blame him if he "didn't actually see him coming through up the inside that late" and returned the compliment if you get my drift or perhaps we can rely on Vettel being the architect of his own failing without any help whatsoever let's face it he seems to do it on a regular basis these days.

I don't think Button is that kind of person.

But I don't think Button will be letting him through in any event....... I think Vettel will be rather busy trying to crash into any one of the other 21 cars on the circuit

still Vettel - at Silverstone - couldn't overtake cleanly, so barged Sutil out the way

Vettel cant overtake because by nature, the RB wing wants to stay square in the wake of the car it's following. As soon as one side of the wing leaves the wake, that side drops sharply with the increased air flow pushing the nose of the car back behind the car in front.

= oversteer and t-bone or just plain old rear ender.

No no, its all Vettel's fault

Far as I'm concerned, T-boning Button was a st happens incident. Dont see why Vettel is being so chastised for it. The car went out of shape braking and turning on damp tarmac on slicks. Best of luck controlling that!

The other contact with the Force India, regardless of whats Tweedles Dee and Dum in the commentary box might proffer, was the Force India's fault. Vettel's corner, they should have let out not turned in to his rear tyre.

For me the point is that Vettel should have know that by operating the controls of the car in the way he did was more likely to end up sticking him in the wall/side of Buttons car than anything else.

I can't see why Button would be interested in such retaliation. It was Vettel's mistake, no doubt, but that's racing. He made a mistake, lost control, took someone with him. I'm really surprised that he got penalised for it actually. Just how careful are these guys supposed to be while racing eachother? He penalised himself enough by losing time mucking around in the runoff area and then in the pits getting a new nose cone.

Actually you're right about the wing. I can easily believe that it would have messed the aerodynamics around enough to destabilise the car under heavy braking with the amount of movement it had.

IINM, Button has described the circuit at the time when Vettel drove into him as "100% bone dry"
