If its happening its allegedly about to be signed up. All rumours for now, but they've happily signed Kobiyashi for next year already, heard nothing similar about De La Rosa.

To be fair i don't think that there were tha many at the start of the season who expected it to end much better for him. IMO you can be out of the game for a maximum of one season before you get too rusty to make enough of an impact to keep your seat at the end of your first year back.Sure he is a nice chap but his time has been and gone. Likewise Truli.

He's a cheating snake who didn't deserve the seat. Sauber must have got his services cheap, expecting a load of McLaren knowledge to come with him. He was never that good anyway. Seems a slightly odd decision to me, if I were Peter Sauber I'd have given him a contract now for next year but let him continue testing for Pirelli for the remainder of this season. With that under his belt Heidfeld would be an even more valuable asset with all that knowledge than if he (presumably) ditches the Pirelli testing now after only a couple of tests, and its not as if Sauber are going to gain huge amounts by doing a swap so late in the season, the car aint exactly a potential podium finisher in the right hands to vault them up the constructors table.

PDLR may not be doing great things in a race seat, but he was reasonably well-liked as a test driver. IIRC I think it went something like- '07 equals, '08 Kubica, '09 Heidfeld.Either way we'll now be able to find out how good the bashi is.
I rate NH too. The old gauge of wet performances remains true here - he has always been very good in the wet.

Test drivers don't really get to drive that much in these times of limited testing so a race seat should always be more attractive.http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/86691 been confirmed now, surprising with his role as Pirelli test drive maybe could have worked himself into Renault with that knowledge? But good to see him back in F1, one of very few german drivers that I can stand!

Bizarre, I'd say. Taking the Pirelli testing gig was universally seen as a good way for Heidfeld to raise his worth and maybe get a decent seat next year. Now he's chucked that all away for 5 pointless races in a mediocre car that won't be developed any more.
