Monza F1 - were the timings updating more often?

Did anyone else notice that the times back from the leader that displayed along the bottom of the screen were updating every few seconds on Sunday's Grand Prix? I haven't noticed before, but the times updated several times before leaving the screen.
We often hear that the teams get more timing updates than we get, was this a sneak preview of what the teams get to see?

i noticed this too, was good actually! Did you watch it on the red button? I think you get more info via the red button, tho i might be wrong

Yep think this was active in parts on the Belgian GP, just using the sensors they have every few hundred yards rather than sectors.

It's about time they did that tbh, NASCAR and IndyCar broadcasts have had 'live' time gaps for ages.

I believe that NASCAR and IndyCar use GPS tracker in the car rather than timing beams. Brundle said the cars now have trackers in them that are accurate to within one foot or so. My guess is that they're using those and working out how far they are between each other.

I guess they can use the GPS system to time gaps between cars?
