Having now read some of his side of the story i'm not entirely sure he was.

I mean , everyone else seems to have made some decent wedge out of this..why not him?

not taking either side here, but he made plenty of money for not a lot of work, and not a lot of risk

Not really, compared to the obscene amount Clarksole makes out of the show for even less risk and almost as little input... In the grand scheme of things.

Because he signed a contract agreeing to anonymity as the Stig and has now decided that, because they've earned a few quid out of the Stig image (which isn't even always him) he'll just forget that contract and sell his story to a publisher/various newspapers?

Clarkson's made the money because between him and Andy Wilman (the Producer) came up the the concept for Top Gear, in a similar way to Simon Cowell and the X factor. Ben Collins knew the situation with regards to his identity in his contract, if he didn't like it he, shouldnt have signed.

Also BC doesnt bring anything unique to the show, there are plenty of other racing drivers/tutors that could do just as good a job as him. I bet some of the Palmersport guys would jump at the chance.

No, because he hasn't been the only Stig. There have been several on different occasions, he's just been the main one. The Renault F1 test for instance wasn't him. Neither was the Ferrari FXX.

Sorry, that's what I meant! I wonder how many times Raffaele de Simone, Max Venturi, etc have Stigged up for the Beeb?

getting in on some of the ludicrous cash that top gear generates is hardly the crime of the century, particularly if, as the BBC are so adamant to state, The Stig is such a large part of the show.

For those happy to slate Ben, you may be better placed to comment if you have met him personally

he may well be a nice guy, but all I can imagine is that he has been very badly advised over this whole thing.

the Stig as a TV character is not Ben Collins, it's a creation of Willman and Clarkson, and let's be blunt here, just about any half-compendant club racer could have filled the suit in just the same way, he is no more than an anonymous bit-part actor in a TV show.

to then blatantly try to cash in on this with no regard for slaughtering the concept for the Stig either shows very poor judgment, or a very selfish streak.
