So......

For some odd reason I've decided to get married next August, preparations are well under way, money being spent, dresses, flowers and all that completely unimportant stuff is being taken care of by her who-is-soon-to-obeyed leaving me with the really important things to organise...like a stag do!

Brothers in charge (best man) and we've got a slot between middle of July (end of term) and middle of August (wedding) and the general suggestion has been a GP trip as despite being a massive F1 fan I've never been. Given the dates involed next years calender means if we do it'll be Hungary or Germany (which is Nurburgring in 2011).

I'm not hugely fussed about the getting smashed/visiting strip clubs bit (although suggestions for both will be gladly taken) as this is likely to be a stag for my car mates and a more traditional night out will likely be had for those not wishing to travel abroad.

I was just hoping to get some opinions from PHer's who've been to both about which might be best for a visit? I'm assuming Hungary is going to be the more likely choice given it's eastern Europen location? Price? Other "attractions" nearby?

Never been to either but the Nurburgring Nordschlieffe is a lot of fun. I imagine it gets very busy around GP time, but if you could do that as well I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself.

My dad went to the Hungarian GP a few years ago and didn't think so much of it. Hot and dusty circuit with thuggish parking attendants trying to line their own pockets (this was around 10 years ago so might well have changed).

Just had a look at the 2011 calendar as I thought you were confusing it with Hokkenheim, but no, having trashed Hokkenheim, it looks like the Bernie road show has dropped it altogether for next year.
