Its the old mans birthday - usually we go to the British Grand Prix and i'll sort tickets out as a gift.

This year for one reason or another we were unable to go.

So what's left this year that I could take him to instead?

Anything from touring car racing, rallying, drag racing, GT championships - anything really.

We're located in Sheffield so woudl prefer somethign reasonably close but are happy to travel.

So what left in the various calenders?

Cheers

Final of the BTCC at Brands I think weekend after next, should be good with plenty of action in the support races.

BTCC would be worth going to, there are four drivers capable of winning the championship. Last year there was plenty of exciting (although not really sportsman like) driving in all three races.

You have the GTs at Donington in October, 2 hour race into the dark and the support races are usually worth a look

The Spa 6 Hours is very good, and you can make a weekend of it. It might be a bit late this year now though. http://www.roadbook.be/

Thanks so far folks some good suggestions but to put a spanner in the works the next two weekends are out as I'm on holiday.

GT racing at donnington sounds interesting especially in the dark.... Doesn't seem to be on their website though?

The "In the dark" Gt race is a Britcar event rather than British Gt's which are having a day time event.

Not track based but I enjoyed the Cambrian Rally last year. Its based in North Wales so not a million miles away (I work in Sheffield and live in N.Wales so I can vouch for that!)

Other than that you could take a trip to Oulton Park, theres a few races left

If you go with option one though, you could also make a weekend of it and sample some of the local roads
