You were watching a different race to me then because todays race wasnt a good example if you want to argue that MotoGP was a lot more exciting because it was a really boring race apart from the Rossi / Lorenzo battle in the last 3 laps, and most races this season have been similar.
You've missed the boat generally with that argument, there was a time a few years ago with the 1000cc engines and few electronics where the races were generally fantastic, but now with the 800s and all the traction control plus the fact that the satellite bikes rarely have a prayer of taking it to the factory bikes means its got rather sterile, World Superbike is far more action packed in regards to close action packed racing.

In my opinion F1 is more like a strategy game, where as MotoGP is about action and excitement
That F1 clip was from 2007, nothing like that has happened since! All the overtaking seems to take place during the pits, where as bikes overtake on track; where it should take place!

I follow MotoGP and enjoy it generally, but 16 bikes on the grid, loads of electronics and only 3 or 4 realistic winners doesnt make for regular exciting racing unfortunately.

Would a F1 race with no radio contact and no mandatory pitstops for tyre compound changes be better?

Some interesting views but, variously, F1 has emasculated cars, 1/2 a grid of competitive cars, only 6 or 7 potential race winners barring rare eventualites, and even when we get some competitive cars together, they rarely overtake each other.
F1, for various reasons will always get my preference but there is no denying Moto GP is where the excitement and action is, small grid or not.

Moto GP gets my vote every time. Even when with the rather tamed bikes you can still see them moving around and on the limit at most corners. You can't really say the same about F1 although it has got a little better the last two seasons. And then there's Rossi of course - today he was awesome and made the whole race worth watching just for the last three laps. Thrilling.

Notice that by the time you get just over a minute into that 5 minute higlights package, there's only 2 laps remaining and the "highlights" of those first 22 laps have already been shown. Thats because the only meaningful thing that happened was everyone getting off the line and then Rossi passing Lorenzo on lap 5, nothing much else happened for the next 20 laps or so, until the last 2 laps where the two Yamahas were going at it.I love them both, but MotoGP is going through a pretty grim patch, and F1 is having one of the best seasons for several years (again, IMO). Neither are edge of the seat exciting of late, but they're both still very good.
That being said, I'd rather watch bike racing if I were forced to choose.

Don't get me wrong, I watch F1 every race but I enjoy the build up, interviews, analysis and strategy more than the racing. I guess it doesn't excite me anymore.Both have their highlights and indeed respective followings. Interesting debate

Yep I dont disagree on some occassions it would be like that, and I do understand people sometimes finding F1 boring if their only interest is seeing action and lots of overtaking rather than the deeper interest the likes of you and I have. I always watch MotoGP and enjoy it regardless, but what I dont agree with is that today's MotoGP race was a good example of an exciting, action packed race, because for the vast majority of the race it wasnt, and for the vast majority of the past couple of seasons it hasn't been.
