M56 motorway closures this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Discussion
Guys, anybody travelling from the north to Oulton Park, please note that the M56 will will be closed as from 10.00pm Friday night. See below;
The Highways Agency is advising road users to allow extra time for their journeys over two weekends in October, as essential work gets underway to replace the 39-year-old Bowdon View Bridge linking the M56 with the A556 south-west of Manchester.
While the old bridge deck is demolished, the M56 will be closed eastbound from its junction with the M6 at Junction 9 and westbound from Junction 6 at Hale Barns from 10pm on Friday 15 October 2010 until 5am on Monday 18 October 2010.
The same closures will then be in place from 10pm on Friday 22 October 2010 until 5am on Monday 25 October 2010 while the new bridge deck is moved in to place. The M56 Junction7 westbound exit slip road will remain closed to traffic throughout that week, reopening at 5am on Monday 25 October 2010.
While the closures are in place drivers are advised to plan their journeys and allow extra time when travelling on the clearly signed diversion routes. People travelling to and from Manchester and Manchester Airport are urged to use public transport wherever possible to avoid delays.
Probably best using the M6 where possible.
