Now with the finishing line in sight, Webber within touching distance of Alonso and Vettel trailing a significant distance behind he states 'no driver will be favoured'

There's a big difference between saying that one driver will be preferred when there is a limited availability of parts, and that they will be given total preference (e.g. being ordered to give up position in a race).

I think the 'helping your teammate' win the championship thing is way over played/talked about. Apart from swapping cars ala Ferrari if the cars happen to be inline, which will probably be a mathmatic no brainer when that decision needs to be made, what else can the guy that's helping do?

What would Massa be doing differently if he wasn't tasked with helping Alonso win the championship (post Germany). He's driving around now as fast as he can 'to take points of Red Bull / McLaren...just like he has been trying to do all season.

well, if the second driver was directly behind the first driver, and the course was difficult to overtake on, the driver could brake earler/accelerate slower/make the car very wide

its happened a lot in the past- the lead driver can get a complete pit stop from it. I'm sure it happened in the Schumacher/Irvine or Schumacher/Barachello days, but cant rememebr what team this was...

Usually only get priority in pitstop choice and timing. Jenson has been employed to drive slowly and hold up the rest of the field to help Lewis this year, they got this a bit wrong last race as they put rather too much ballast on this time.
