UK F1 driver Jenson Button carjacked in Brazil
But actually...
"Would-be assailants made an attempt to approach the car that was carrying Jenson Button" on Saturday, said the statement from McLaren.
Button, 33, was quickly driven away by an armed policemen in the reinforced armoured vehicle provided by McLaren."
Would be assailants, not even actual assailants, made an attempt (failed) to approach the armoured vehicle.
Carjacked indeed...

There is a reason so many cars are available blindado in SP.
Quite a few friends (all local) sold or relocated their cars due to close encounters of the car jacking kind. Incredibly it takes staring down the barrel of a gun (not grounding out your car by driving around Jardims Paulista) for some guys to chop in their super cars in Sao Paulo.

I was about to say.. a carjacking would require the jacking of a car! Bloody sensationalist media. But actually...

I live in Morumbi and have nice cars, I have not had a problem in 5 years - very few if my friends have either, mostly liveQuite a few friends (all local) sold or relocated their cars due to close encounters of the car jacking kind. It was a few years ago but one of my friends had a Maserati 3200 and was followed by the would-be carjackers from one of his restaurants in Jardims. He installed that immobiliser they always advertised shout about on tv which shuts the car down shortly after a theft. He simply got out of the car and left them to it.
After them doing their best to scare me half to death with tales of robbery and woe, I went against every fibre of my being and got an old 500SL back in 2004. Along with boring me half to death it never caught anyone's attention.
In all my years in Brazil I am yet to see even a garden variety street fight let alone a carjacking. Things do happen however. It's a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time I think.

Indeed, ask MB about my garage... But I feel safer here than I did when I lived in Parktown JoBurg...
I don't understand why they are driving to/from the circuit when I am flying.. The weather was not bad enough to stop helicopters and pretty much solves the problem. Senna used to fly himself to the track if I remember correctly, why cars.. You know the traffic here is crap!
