F1 in HD for 2011

I also read on another forum:

"Someone tweeted Jake today asking if the F1 was going to be broadcast in HD next season. Jake simple replied 'Yes.' So Jake and the BBC seem to think it's a done deal."

Just off to find out just how much HD TVs are!

Yes it is. But if all you buy is a TV (without Sky HD) you will need a TV with:

A) A Freeview HD tuner
B) A Freesat tuner and a dish

or

C) A Freeview HD STB or PVR
D) A Freesat STB or PVR and a dish


For the record I have an HD TV with a Freeview HD tuner and A Freesat PVR.

The main difference between Freeview and Freesat is (IMO) Freeview has better channels. Freesat has more chanels. Freesat broadcast in 5.1 dolby Freeview don't.

got nothing to do with if the TV can do 1080P, it;s o do with can the freeview tunner in the TV decode DVB-T2, as HD in the UK will be using this (as opposed to current SD using DVB-T(1)).

this standard was only introduced this year, and so far very few TV's and PVR's support it.

Freesat uses DVB-S and currently it's HD channels are broadcast using this, along side the SD stuff.

Only problem been Freeview HD is not available till late next year in my area.
