Student help please

Hi everyone, I'm studying Motorsport Engineering at UCLan and for one of my (many!) assignments I'm required to do a report and presentation on racing car gearboxes. I was wondering if anyone here works for any manufacturing companies that can send me any helpful materials or knows where I can find any information to help me with my assignment.

Any help is much appreciated.

Try these two racing gearbox companies for general info:-

Between them they manufacture practically all racing car gearboxes and internals.

I studied Motorsport engineering at UCLAN and did that exact presentation in the 1st year!

Anyway I also did the UClan course, The good Doctor has dragged me on here for suggestions.

Suggest you look at epicyclic use in motorsport, the gearbox flybrid use for their flywheel
system is pretty trick too, though limited use in motorsport. The hewland website used to have
a really good section on the basics of racing car boxes...

Trawling through the copys of Racecar engineering that are in the library will point you to
some interesting tech and trends, and then you can use proper books to look up some of the principles behind them...

Smaller gearbox companies may be more willing to let you go have a look around, always worth a
phone call to ask though.
