Just thought you might all be interested to know that the BRDC are about to put Silverstone on the market for sale - lock stock and barrel. PWC have put the whole sale together and should go public soon. Starting price of £70m with a guarantee to invest the same again in the future. I hear that the BRDC have decided that they can't cope anymore with the looming responsibility of the new buildings.

I'm sure Bernie's going to love this!

Google isn't throwing anything up on this.

Would be good to see the detail. It's not uncommon for projects like this to go to the market to raise / secure revenue so wouldn't have though there's anything sinister behind it.

Actually, thinking about it, that's blinking difficult to achieve as no one organisations owns the whole.

It won't.

It's not uncommon, but they have already done that. This is not a case of raising debt. This is 100% a sale that is being put in place.

BRDC own 100% of the site and venue and IPR.

Maybe Bernie should buy it, or would that be a conflict of interest?

Has there been a membership vote?

To my knowledge they gave up this power to the Board when they voted for SHL (Silverstone Holdings Ltd) and SCL (Silverstone Circuits Ltd) to take more power in the day to day running. I believe that they now only have to act in the best interest of the members and British Motorsport. Each full member would receive a dividend from the sale though.

Could be a good venue for the new Northampton Saints stadium and Asda complex....no worries about leaving after the games.

I can think of a few logistics companies who would love that space for some massive warehouses and truck stop areas.....

What a very random first post to make, especially with no source?

I'd say put up or shut up.

There's enough members on PH to say if it's bks or not.

(I was going to say "true or not, but I typed it and it looked daft.)

I call BS until a source is provided.

It says a rumour, I (and I'm sureso would everyone else) like to see something from PWC, Silverstone or similar to confirm it.
