Stuart Smith R.I.P Stock Car Legend
Discussion
A sad loss ,today was his funeral. Smithy transformed stockcar racing in this country . I still remember the first time i saw him race, I was at Haringay stadium when this young guy from up north every one was raving about turned up. At that time most drivers were using Jag engines or V8 pontiac and ford units. But under the bonnet of 391 was one of the first big block chevy/Buick engines in the country!
As he was a Red Top driver allready, he started at the back for his heat . As the starter dropped the flag for the rolling start you could hear the thunder of his Chevy above all else and the whole line of cars in front were pushed forward.
Great Days and memories
RIP a truly great driver.
