Anyone going?

I'm thinking about taking a trip over for this years race in a couple of weeks time.

I usually go - it's my local track after all. If you've not been before, the weather can be a bit hit and miss - often very cold at night and a couple of times in recent years the race has been temp red flagged due to torrential rain.
I think the Rolex has recovered from the initial DP slump and the driver line-ups are very interesting these days.
It's an easy season-opener for me - but Sebring is where it's all at from an enduro perspective. I notice you have that one in your plans too. Sebring is our Le Mans (though some of us do both) - and my personal view is that Sebring is now a far, far better event from a fans perspective than Le Mans has been for a long time. Sebring today is what Le Mans was like in the early 80's and the race's heritage is as strong here as the 24 is in France.
Come over to Turn 10 (Cunningham Corner) and have a beer with us. We're not difficult to find. There's an eclectic mix of Americans, ex-pat and visiting English and a few Dutch, thrown in for good measure - all fans, all friends - no obnoxious behavior, despite fairly impressive alco-intake, no debris fence, right on the apex af a very tricky and fast right-hander, drivers and crew come visit before (and sometimes during) the race - Pratt & Miller run Turn 10 stickers on their cars, huge grill/smoker set up, pig roast on Thurs night, self-built grandstand (try doing that trackside at LM) lots and lots of laughs - when it's all over, stick around for a week and see the P&M Caddy CTSV Coupe debut at the St Pete Grand Prix meeting.
Feel free to PM me, if you need any info, or would like to come say hello.

I've been for the past 2 years but sadly can't go this time round and I'm already depressed about it! frown

Sitting up in the grandstands watching the cars on the banking at night is an amazing sight. This year should be good with drivers like Martin Brundle & Mark Blundell there.

The support Continental Tires race is just as exciting as the 24hrs, lots of battles and fighting for places in that.

Check out http://www.garra-fans.com for loads of info and great photos from the recent ROAR test sessions.

I last went to Daytona for the 24hr race in 2002 the year after Corvette won....doh!

So looking forward to doing it again this year smile

Regarding Sebring totally agree Matt, I did it in 2007 and 2009 (see a pattern here?) and it is great fun, looking forward to seeing Turn 10 for myself as have heard a lot about it from some of the drivers.

The Daytona drivers list this year is very interesting with drivers spanning the generations from Jeffrey Earnhardt (Dale's grandson) to Hurley Haywood!

Let me guess - Johnny O? Shane Lewis? Ollie Gavin? Mika Salo? Jan Mag? They usually stop by - Dan Binks usually nicks a few cans of our Guinness.
