Who cares about the commentators. If you dont like them turn off the sound and stare in awe at Senna's sublime opening lap.
I doubt that there will ever be another first lap such as this. I was at the bottom of the Craner Curves & i can clearly recall watching the great man come down the hill on the outside!
Stunning driving from a genius.

Maybe this is part of the issue - back in '93, there was something more interesting to do during GP's than analyse the commentary in intricate detail...I doubt that there will ever be another first lap such as this. I wasn't much of a Senna fan back in the day, but over time I have come to appriciate the talent that he had.
1st lap of Donnington
Monaco pole (cant remember if it was 88 or 89)
Suzuka 89
And that win for Toleman in the wet, Esteril 1984? Some of the best driving right there that you will ever witness.
However, as a Ferrari fan I'd also like to include Senna's lapping of Jean Louis Schlesser at Monza 1988

Senna was, for me, the best. Flawed in some ways i would agree however he was head & shoulders above the rest of the grid.
Donington 93 was one of my sublime moments - it was wet & bloody cold but it was also worthwhile to be in the presence of a genius.
One of my regrets is that he didnt get to race against Schumacher. Had Senna lived i very much doubt that Schumacher would have won 7 world titles.

I was at the top of the Craner Curves, cold and sopping wet !! (anyone that was there will NEVER forget the rain) I was so cold I even bought a Donington GP sweatshirt to try and keep warm (I still have the sweatshirt)Stunning driving from a genius.
Happy days.

He did, for almost three seasons.Unfortunately, Schumacher's rise to the top was just at the point Senna died. In fact, the rise of Scumacher was instrumental in Sennas fate.
