Solberg hands over to co-driver

I know that occasionally they drive between stages but this takes it a step further.

Love it. Would there be any issues about comp licenses or do co-drivers need to hold them to?

haha, brilliant. Would be entertaining if they did that in F1..... imagine Lewis's trainer in Melbourne this year for example. Pah, he'd still finished ahead of HRT.

I know that Seb Loeb's co-driver had a full rally at the Monte Carlo IRC and did rather well, but for someone who hasnt driven in anger before to do a stage on snow without binning it was quite an achievement no matter what the speed. Don't forget the pressure he was under too, this was the final stage and all could be lost if was to bin it. I just wonder how much wheel help he was getting from Solberg.

I got my International Rally Licence in 1961 on the Int. Scottish Rally. At signing-on the day before the start I was asked for my comp. licence. I said I was only the navigator and wasn't going to drive. Ah said he but you have to as some of the days are of more than 200 miles run. I was shattered as I thought that would mean we could not start, so I said What can we do about that? He said It's alright I will write you out one now. The car was a 1959 Turner BMC belonging to my friend John Barnes which I later bought and which I passed on to my son a few years ago.

Thanks for that! Shows how much grip those things have got when driven neatly! Whilst he was a long way from quick, he didn't stuff in to the bank which would have ruined everything.
