Historical question on F1

Can anyone help me here? Two questions:

A team sold off advertising space on its cars in about metre square spaces. Can anyone tell me what car it was?

Further, there was a driver who sold off parts of his body (I make no comment) for sponsorship purposes. Any ideas?

Thanks for nod but that wasn't it. Perhaps it was fans' names on the car?

The livery of the My Earth Dream reminded me of my father's despatch rider's greatcoat he used when going trialing. He reckoned it blended with the background so his foot going down might not be noticed. I thought it more likely he'd go through the whole section without being seen by the marshalls.

The Dome Judd, from Le Mans were one of the first team to sell off car space is little spaces? I think it worked out to be a couple of thousand to get a slot..

The Lola Mastercard F1 project was also looking to plaster the car with people's names if they subscribed to the project.

Indy car driver Justin Wilson sold himself to investors to buy a ride in the USA. It has so I believe been quite profitable. Would not work in F1 today.

Just noticed how close the exhaust exit on the Honda is compared to the driver's position. I guess it curled back and up?

The exhausts are on the right, dark metal coloured and pointing backwards to the right, the blue/green coloured section alongside the driver is part of the radiator system.

He did that to fund his F1 drive (jonathan palmer managed him and arranged this deal), now all his investors get a dividend based on his earnings in Indycars because thats where he has ended up. http://www.justinwilsonplc.com/1_about.htm

Justin has two more seasons to go before he gets to keep his full earnings, based on the share issue back in 2003.

I can assure you that it has not been profitable for anyone but Wilson's manager.

Agreed. I caught some indy coverage the other day and they were saying that the investors will be repaid (not earned profit) by the end of next season. It had been a big burden for Wilson as the financial calculations were all based on an F1 career with the associated earnings.

It was an idea thought up by Jan Lammers (Racing for Holland) after they lost their main sponsor around 2000-2001. Since the, he's always had a chequered design on the Racing for Holland cars, even when they had a main sponsor.

At the time, I think he was the first in Motorsport to try this.

And of course Jan drove with Jonathan Palmer in Richard Lloyd's 956/962 Canon Porsche team back in the 80's, so there's a connection between Justin Wilson and Jan Lammers in a funny way.

Jan and JP used to have a little party trick they performed in the rental car on the way from the airport to the track when one would steer from the passenger seat and the other would work the pedals.

They did this literally from the rental car park to the track car park and hilarity inevitably ensued...

I can see that F1 earnings could be more, but I don't think that is the issue with this situation.
