Mildly concerning that McLaren aren't regularly trading ultra quick laps with everyone else.
Even notwithstanding the whole "testing means nothing", they'd surely be running low fuel/grippy tyre stints to gauge performance under those conditions, and they'll surely crop up at some point?

They probably have more new bits on their car than any other team, so have an awful lot to try out. Even notwithstanding the whole "testing means nothing", they'd surely be running low fuel/grippy tyre stints to gauge performance under those conditions, and they'll surely crop up at some point?
Once they decide which bits they are going to use and hone the setup, they will be up there as one of the top cars I'm sure.
Ferrari seem to be going quite nicely.
I appreciate that but they're fast running out of time to select their ideal setup and then gather data from the entire setup, aren't they?
I know there have been rumours of all these different configurations possibly being used at different tracks but even so, there'd still appear to be a potential gap in data on certain scenarios..

From what I'm hearing Mclaren have had major reliability issues. I hope they do get another test in because it looks like they'll need it.Once they decide which bits they are going to use and hone the setup, they will be up there as one of the top cars I'm sure.

I wonder if they regret missing the first test?
They had hydraulic problems today which shouldn't really be a problem for a team like McLaren. I hope this car isn't another dog like the MP4-24. Hamilton might be wanting out if it is.
ETA: And how promising does the Toro Rosso look, especially in the hands of Alguersuari? They might be worth betting on for top 5 finishes in the first few races of the season, and possibly better than that.

The redbulls and ferraris have just been pounding round here looking very good. Button looked quick on parts today but didn't seem to be managing a lot of laps consistantly. The merc looked awful to drive from trackside. Lots of locals there today and alonso gave them a 5 second wave which kept the main grandstand happy. Looking forward to see if Hamilton can sort the pace of the mclaren out over the next couple of days. Just started raining which could be fun though.
Button stating that "its too early" to say the McLaren in uncompetitive suggests the McLaren is uncompetitive.
Shame. I couldn't bear another year of Red Bull having so much in reserve over the other teams, so that even with some truly poor driving they eased the constructors' championship.
Let's hope at least two other teams can challenge them to provide some good racing.

It was the same story last year, but they ran the Red Bulls close come season end. And don't forget the tyres are a big issue this year. With such low temperatures (I heard five degrees today) the tyres will be quite hard to get up to temperature, especially if McLaren have designed their car to be easier on the less durable Pirellis. Basically we won't know anything until we get to the grid at the first GP. Wherever that is. Shame. Yeah it is. At the moment McLaren are running the 2010 front and rear wings which explains in part their lack of pace so far. They have fitted the 2010 rear wing with the adjustable flap. If they've gone to the effort to do that then I hope it's because what they have come up with is so good they don't want it copied before the season starts.Also I've just read on another forum that front wings are now homologated. If I've understood it correctly and it's true it means that front wing designs are frozen from the first GP and cannot be changed through the season, so McLaren could be holding it back if it is as good as they think.
That sounds a bit ridiculous to me, does anyone know any more about that? Maybe they can change the elements but nothing substantial?
Not heard or read anything about front wings being homologated, pretty sure that's not correct. The nose possibly can't be changed as it's part of the crash structure, but the wing hung underneath it isn't part of that. Perhaps thats where the confusion has come from?

So Tony Texi£££££££££££££ria has handed a massive bag of cash to Lotus so his son can have 30 laps in testing, finishing 5 secs off Heikki's best time. He must have been picked as reserve driver for his raw pace and natural talent then...
I'n other news Liuzzi has handed Narain's arse to him I'n the HRT but will almost certainly not get the drive as someone else with more talent (money) will come along to take the drive. Maybe Ricardo Taxdodgeria fancies it
Actually, if you were Tonio Liuzzi would you take a drive at HRT just to stay I'n F1 or would you take the Mercedes DTM drive which was supposedly on the table to get him out of the Force India?
If the final test is in Barcelona I'm going to try and get out there for a day or two I think.
