Hi all, eagerly anticipating the start of the F1 season and really fancy going to Spa, complete novice so would appreciate advice on hotels, transport, grandstands & tickets etc?

I can't help you much.

But I have booked in a campsite near the main entrance. Never been before, but nothing ventured nothing gained

Got the tickets direct from the circuit website, this also included camping.

Booked up for eurotunnel. And driving all the way.

I've got flights from Manchester to Brussels, a hire car, tickets and a B&B 40 mins north of the track all sorted out. Can't wait!

Am seriously contemplating doing an F1 GP race, but all my mates are into raving and not into watching motor racing. If your "Billy no mates" like my self what would you suggest to tag along with a group?

Most of the motor racing tour companies have packages including transport accomodation , bus to and from circuit etc. Of course it is cheaper doing it yourself, but if you have to pay ferry etc etc just for one, perhaps not so much cheaper.
Page and Moy, Motor Racing International etc spring to mind.
Havent used one for donkeys years, but there must be recent info on here from people who have.

Spa is a great track to go to because of the atmosphere and the speed. Please be aware though that the track is long, hence the number of laps is relatively low and the laptimes a bit longer.

Re. grandstands it depends largely on budget and what you want to see:

-A good view of the straight and Eau Rouge will give you fantastic sound and a great feel for the raw speed out of La Source and through Eau Rouge. Tickets sell out quickly though and the good ones are really expensive.
-Bruxelles will give you a good view of accelleration out of Les Combes, the breaking zone for Bruxelles, the corner itself and then some accelleration. Speeds through the corner are relatively low, but it will give you an idea about the roadholding, breaking and sprinting power of F1 cars. Tickets here are a little more economical
-A view of Pouhon (or double left) is also worthwhile because of the very high cornering speeds. I think there will be a grandstand, but maybe even some views with general admission tickets.

I recommend a stay as close as possible to the village of Francorchamps. Stavelot is also nice and you can reach the track on the back roads.

Im going again 5th time or something ive lost count driving from North Wales camping Friday and Sat don't expect to get much sleep, can't wait, one of the better tracks.

I went last year with the wife (so camping in a field full of rowdy, beer-swilling Germans was off the radar), we stayed here:

Was fairly cheap, and the food / service was amazing. Only about a 40 minute drive in.

Sat in the Gold grandstand at Eau Rouge, great view of La Source, then flat out all the way up through Eau Rouge and into Radillon. There is also a big screen opposite, and the Gold grandstand has it's own toilets / refreshments (a godsend on race day). You can also get to the catch fencing at Eau Rouge and watch from track level if you want to stand for the race.

It was my first "continental" GP (been to Silverstone a few times) and it was awesome. One final thing, if you use the official parking, be prepared for a long queue to get out...
