Jim Clark Biography - Recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good Jim Clark biography, or alternatively point out ones to avoid?

There aren't that many considering his achievements.

I know Graham Gauld has written a few books about Clark although they tend to be a bit hagiographic in nature.

There is also a book from the 1990s by Eric Dymock which is quite good.

There is a list of Clark related books on this site, including the Dymock one and some of the Gauld books.

I presume you mean the Mark Stewart (Jackie's son) documentary that has been aired on the BBC? (He also produced the recently repeated Graham Hill documentary)

There is also a very good Duke video/DVD on Clark as well.

It was shown by the BBC but it wasn't by the BBC.
It was by Mark Stewart Productions and is part of a trilogy including Hill and Stewart too.

The Duke Videos' Clark doc is quite good to, but very "1990s" in production values.

I was at the Coys Historic Festival in 2000 where some of the Stewart documentary was shot. I appear in the background in one sequence where they had Jackie sitting in the Tyrrell with Ken Tyrrell and Derek Gardner sitting on the front wheels.

Car choice is a very personal issue. I'd love a Bristol Blenheim.

But then, I suspect that you may "get" Bristols. (Har har).

according to my brother it's being re done at the moment; it was closed when he and his wife went to visit recently.

They are apparently getting one of his cars. I haven't been for a good long while.

Sounds great. A bit of a road trip from Exeter, but could be a good excuse to put some miles on the MX5.
