Mercedes Copy Honda

What the hell, A Mercedes GP Formula 1 car has been stripped down into thousands of pieces for a new art show. Didn't Honda so this about 5 years ago at the London Motor Show.

And Williams, and various museums, car manufacturers and marketing departments. It's nothing new, but in F1 context at least, it's pretty damn interesting, and let's face it you're not going to see many 'cutaway' style models.

How can it possibly be a waste?
It's artistic - in so much as it looks amazing to my eye, educational in so much as it shows a significant amount of the inner workings and assembly, and I'm willing to be it's almost if not entirely non-destructive process. I'd far rather see them displayed like this than not at all.

F1 teams carry quite a considerable volume of spares over the course of a year.

I'm meaning to say that most of the formula one teams have old F1 machinery stacked high in storage.
Just lying around being wasted.
(mclaren for instance)
Instead of just putting them away never to be seen again.
It's better to give them another life.
Be it as a demo car or whatever they find a use for.

Its a good idea so that people can see what goes on under the sponsors logo's. That photo of the old McLarens makes me weep.

What a waste to wrap the cars in plastic & hide them away so that unless you are one of the chosen few you never get to see them.

Its the same with Bernie's GP car collection. A total waste.

The opposite to the cars at Donington which get use on occassions & even if they dont move you can at least see them.
