F1 tyre colour codes
Discussion
Pirelli have announced the colours codes to be used on their tyres this year - the lettering on the sidewall will be in the relevant colour for the tyre type.
Orange = wet
Blue = intermediate
Red = supersoft
Yellow = soft
White = medium
Silver = hard
Personally I suspect it will be difficult to differentiate between white and silver on a car at speed, though as the intention is for there to be at least one grade step between tyres at any particular race, then medium and white won't be at the same event. However given that the tyre situation is still flexible, and they could end up changing the rules depending on how the tyres perform in the early races, I wonder why they didn't go for a more distinct colout e.g. green
