F1 at Bathurst
Discussion
Shock horror, F1 car is quicker around Mount Panorama than a V8 Supertaxi... careful or the Aussies will ban them!

Lowndes was ~1s slower than Button, not bad for his first time in an F1 car.
Lowndes is a decent peddler. He is making a crack at getting more exposure on the International circut aswell this season. He was part of the Audi effort on the Mountain for the 12 GT race (which aou all ignored the thread on :P) and he is trying for a seat with them for more GT races, inc Le Mans.
I *must* get to Bathurst one day. It retains the magic I was brought up thinking the Ring had before they let every accountant and his M3 ruin the place.

Lowndes was a reasonably handy F3000 pilot a decade ago and a Bathurst expert so his pace would seem as expected. Must hunt down the video of this when I'm home - I imagine a Grand Prix car looks mega around there. Did they need to amend any of the manholes in the end? I read they were worried about them on the Mountain.

We are off to the Bathurst 1,000 in 2013 as we have friends to visit out there. I promised my better half a trip to Australia on the condition that she let me go to Bathurst. It looks absolutely magic, gives me goosebumps just thinking about it...
Are the locals still pissed off about not being allowed to take any more than 1 slab of beer each?I have to say that the thought of a GP at Bathurst is a happy thought. Will it happen? Sadly i wouldnt have thought so as the track is to good.
The place would be ruined with chicanes everywhere to 'aid overtaking', miles of run off area's, the walls would need to be moved back, the spectators would be banned from the circuit... etc etc etc.
Such a shame that we probably wont get to see F1 car's race at Bathurst as moving F1 there would ruin the atmosphere of the circuit.
IMO.

It is! I went in 2001 and was amazed by it all. Make sure you get up to the top of the hill to watch the racing and check out the 'tent cities' and viewing areas, as that is all something else
....you wont be dissappointed
Don't think this one has been posted yet?

No no and thrice no.
BE and his F1 circus can stay the f
k away from Bathurst. The people of Bathurst deserve better for their years of hard work than that shower of dark yellow piss and rule books and run-offs raining down on them from afar. Its a novelty to see an F1 on Conrod, but thats as far as it needs to go.
JB looked actually quite excited.
