German Grand Prix - HELP ME

I am looking at going to the German GP this year, was hoping to go to the Belgium GP but annoningly my mate couldn't get the time of work (B@stard month ends)...

Anyway of the GP's we can get to Nürburgring was the best option.

I dont know anyone who's made the journey do just wanted help with a few questions:

1. How difficult is it to drive to? I have looked on Google and from Calais it say 5 hours...
2. What are the camping facilities like?
3. I've never camped at a GP before, so do you need to book in advance?
4. Roughly how much did the camping cost for the weekend?
5. Also what stand did you sit in? I was looking and the final corner seems decent value £260 for the weekend.
6. And most iportantly, is it worth the trip over?

Calais - Nurburg almost exactly 300 mi. You can drive it in 4 hrs without any serious p-taking. It's been done in 2 1/2, but that was in special circumstances.
I don't know about prices of seats, but you'd probably see most "action" in this order:
- T1
- back straight ("Bogen")
- T13/T14 (chicane at end of back straight)
- former Michelin Kurve (now Kumho Kurve, I think)
- Dunlop Kurve (big U-shape at bottom of circuit)
- Ford Kurve (S-shape prior to Dunlop K.)
- "Schumacher"-S (formerly Audi-S) - you won't see any overtaking here, but it might be exciting for giving a sense of the extraordinary speeds at which these cars can change direction.

TBH, I'd have said that the ultimate bend, leading onto the pit straight, would be about the least good POV. It's slightly after the chicane, so the cars are going relatively slowly, normally no overtaking. You don't have a view to the chicane, so most of what you would see is the backs of the cars as they go away from you down the straight. You can't even see the end of the straight (T1) because it is after a crest.

'Fraid I can't help you wrt the camping.
One thing to remember is that, no matter what the weather forecast, it still could rain.

You have picked a decent circuit to go to , but the most boring location on the planet :-)
There is pretty well nothing around and about bar a couple of small towns, and once you have eaten at both small pizza restaurants you may find yourself twiddling thumbs
camping is plentiful - the germans will camp on road sides, roundabouts, in the woods - everywhere there is a space to be frank - so regards paying, you can camp for nothing if you want to pick somewhere just down the road
You'll enjoy the track, but personally, I wouldn't pick that one to go to in Europe

See I was of the assumption you would be able to see the chicane, and part of the pit straight, so I thought It would be a decent place... But if you cant see the Chicane then you are probably right!!! Thats the issue of going circuits you've never visited!

See we can't do Monza/Spa and can't afford Monaco so Germany was the main option really. I can't bare Barcelona, Hungry or Valencia... And at Turkey we would be the only 2 people there!

I also thought the Germans would make it quite a good atmosphere after the racing had finished... I got that more than a bit wrong!

Where would you reccomend?

Well it only leaves you Hungary or British in the European races, I think.

I religously go to the British GP every year, can't remember the last time I wasn't there for the GP...

My mates not a big prototype fan, he only really watches F1... I would love to go to Le Man one year though.

If I can manage to remove a few things from my Diary I will try and go Monza
