F1 cars without the rulebook !!

I’m not talking about a lawless race, with Bull Bars and spikes on the wheels...
However if the teams were given a blank canvas without a million FIA rules on fuel, tyres etc etc what gizmos would the cars get ?
Other than making the drivers job slightly more dangerous (they get paid for that) would it make it better or worse than it is now ?

I'm sure Autocar of F1 Magazine asked that question to some F1 designers. The result definitley had six wheels. I think they were in the same position as fight jet designers. The weak link will become the pilot/driver due to G-Forces.

The same goes for bikes. Just before an introduction of formula's in the late 60's,,Suzuki were testing a 3 cylinder 50 (yes, FIFTY) and Honda were doing same with a 5 cylinder 125 , that revved to 28000..
An open formula in today's F1 , with today's technology, would lead to driver shortage in the fullness of time.

You unlock the Vettel challenge (3 2 lap time trials) when you get to level 30 on either A spec or B spec. Then you get it in RB colours for all bronze, a random colour and RB colour for silver, and a bare carbon fibre, random colour and RB colour one for all gold. You also get a free RB coloured one when you get to level 35 on B spec.It is biblically fast. With a steering wheel it's actually tiring.

They'd use loads of fighter plane technologies - First thing they'd do is have smart wings - like on the Zonda - then it'd be fast round the corners, and faster down the straights.However if the teams were given a blank canvas without a million FIA rules on fuel, tyres etc etc what gizmos would the cars get ?

they'd probably move to jets too - although not in the way that jumps to mind - they'd power prop shafts from them (like jet helicopters), and use the thrust to assist accelerating, braking, cornering, downforce. great thing about jet engines is that they're really light, and they don't really wear out like F1 engines currently do (I think they lose 5bhp per race from wear and tear!?). Not sure how they'd cope with the gyroscopic effect of the engines whilst cornering though - use two maybe?
Think they probably still have four wheels - My Uni just did the CFD (computational (thermo)Fluid Dynamics) for the 'bloodhound ssc'. At really high speeds lots of wheels becomes a problem - you start air-planing, like aquaplaning, but on air. (youtube bloodhoud ssc for vids). it's not been made yet, but they're in the process of constructing it now, be tested in south africa in the next few years - looking to take the land speed record to 1000mph.

I think the most interesting part of this idea is: What in gods name would you use for the wheels? - tyres would get ripped to shreds at really high g-force. the bloodhound has titanium rims, and they get to 50000 radial g - but they'd be no good round the corners.
