Vettel move on Button.

AFAIK, all 4 wheels were not over the line. Someone may be along to confirm/correct me?

Yes. Vettel was ahead of Button before he went off track.

I also noted pre Buttons attempt to pass Massa, Massa had been using that "car park" to carry speed and keep Jenson behind, with all 4 wheels off the track too there.

By using that bit they're making the track longer - I wonder if this is the reason the stewards took a blind eye - it's like T1 at Spa, and NOT like cutting a corner/chicane.

I think this was mentioned last year or maybe the year before, concluding that as when you go off the track on to the 'car park' area you are going further than you would be on the racing line, so by definition is not a short cut. Much like the last bend at Interlagos and the first at Spa, still told not to do it in drivers meetings but is let go more often than not.

Seems the longer people have time to think about the race the more they get wound up by the stuff they didn't even notice on the first viewing. This time tomorrow everyone will want Seb's head on a spike.

It's the tracks that cause it by having these silly run off areas and kerbs in the middle of the tarmac. Just put some grass there, then they won't use it.

I don't see Vettel's move being comparable to Buttons. He took a wide line and went wide, he didn't cut inside the corner. Had Button held Vettel out to dry on the outside like Massa did to him, it would have left Vettel with nowhere to go into the fast right hander and he'd have had to have lifted.

I'd agree with this. Button took a cheeky shortcut out of frustration, Vettel just ran a bit wide when going round the outside.

If V had drven at a speed where he could have kept on the track he would not have passed. He needed to use the car park to overtake and so should have had a penalty.

But hey, this is F1 and Red Bull are not Mclaren (yet).

Working on the assumption that McLaren didn't protest the pass, then if they're happy with it then I am. Jenson didn't say anything about it after the race either. A phrase involving mountains and mole hills springs to mind.
