A Foil for Eddie Jordan

Now DC's moved up the ladder as it were, what seemed lacking in the BBC F1 presentation was a balance to EJ's for want of a better word... wildness.
DCX always seemed to be just about sarcastic enough to balance it all up.
So who would be a foil to him.
Ted Kravitz is a bit too much of a fawning plank, and it would have to be someone with a bit of gravitas.
My suggestopn, even though he's been condemned as a bit of a bad boy is
Pat Symonds, he hasn't got a job, keep him off the fags, he'd be good.

I was thinking about this at the weekend as well; they can't use Ted or Lee because they are reporters, not pundits. Ideally you need someone who's been there and done that, opposed to an observer.

Ant Davidson or Croft would be ideal but he's tied to 5live; I'd love to see Murray Walker in the role but I fear he's not up to attending to every single race; same with the likes of Moss and the rest of the older generation. They really need to find an ex-driver or team owner... my money would go on Damon Hill but I don't know what his other commitements are like

I just want to see the day the daft shortarse rubs up someone the wrong way just enough so they pinch his wig. Every interview, he tries to make the other guy look a tosser. You can see it in the other team principal's eyes that they're thinking "strange, Eddie - you don't have an F1 team anymore - and when you did, you didn't win much. Thanks for your advice, but I'll stick to my guns for now".

No, they look at him warily. Even the likes of Ron and Frank learnt to respect Eddie. Eddie's ability to wheel and deal have probably been unsurpassed in modern F1 and even given Frank a run for his money back in the day. Eddie made his team into GP winners in a very short timespan, he has been successful in every formula he raced I think, so he has earned that respect. The difference though is that when he came into F1 he found guys like Ron and Frank but with 20yrs experience on him, men with no *give* in them and that suddenly wheeling and dealing could only get you so far. This was now hardball, year in/year out and that isnt really Eddie's forte.

So of those team owners and principals, Ron and Frank (and Luca when he is around) can look down on him and after the final race of last year Horner could aswell. The rest of them though can go earn their spurs. Even Ross Brawn, who, to an extent, lucked in on his championship year has to say fair play to him. Dominicalli esp. could learn a thing or 2 from Eddie and I wouldnt be suprised if Luca hasnt told him so.

I would like to see Karun Chandock doing it he seems quite good on the tv maybe a bit junior for this role though?

It may be apocryphal but i heard a story that one of EJs cars was called the Jordan911. Porsche guard their brand fiercely and demanded he rename it - which he did, but not before he got a brand new porsche 911 out of them. He can certainly do a deal. I'll bet he got a discount on his syrups for buying in bulk
