This combination IMHO would have been unstoppable - would have been fantastic to see !!

With watching the early years of F1 back in the 60s and 70s and reports of Lotus cars being incredibly fragile, why would you pick Chapman over someone like Tyrell?

Possibly because in those two decades Lotus won more world championships than any other team? Most F1 cars were fragile then...

Because Tyrrell produced workmanlike cars that needed someone like Jackie Stewart or Francois Cevert to win in, Chapman produced out of the box winners.

Chapman has had a bad reputation (some of it is deserved) but Tyrrell-run cars had some fairly scary failures too. Canada '68 springs to mind.

Before people start Rubens bashing. I could of chosen 2 great WC's. However as we have seen time and time again 2 drivers vying for a WC cause's issues. So I went with Rubens as he has always been a great number 2. Tough choice mind you, I always liked Patrese.

Ooops I think they already done that with the Lotus 79 in 1978 won a lot of races, won the championship changed F1 aerodynamics for ever and produced one of the best looking race cars ever. Oh well game over.

I think Mclaren got pretty near the dream team combination in '88. Murry, Senna, Prost, Dennis.

2 seconds faster than the next car with the same engine and all but for a backmarker, they would have won every race.

Lets be honest, combine Chapman and Newey and you will end up with the most unreliable (albeit quick) car in the history of F1!

From 1962 approx onwards Chapman used to do the "napkin sketches" and Len Terry, Maurice Phillipe, Martin Ogilvie, Ralph Bellamy etc used to do the detailed design work.

I don't see why that couldn't happen again.

As I said in my "team", Chapman to be team manager, Newey to be head of aero.
